A Stone Staircase That Elevates Outdoor Living: The Schomer Project in the Shenandoah Valley

At Waynesboro Landscape & Garden Center, we believe that outdoor spaces should be as functional as they are beautiful. One of our recent hardscape installations — the Schomer residence project — is a perfect example of how thoughtful design can transform a challenging landscape into something both practical and elegant.

Designed by Van Anderson, Built by Our Expert Crew

Led by in-house designer Van Anderson, this project focused on addressing a steep slope between two structures at the Schomer property. Van created a plan for a stone staircase that would offer easy access while enhancing the property’s natural charm. Our skilled installation crew brought the vision to life with precision craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The result is a striking stone staircase flanked by creek rock accents, creating a clean and cohesive look that ties in beautifully with the surrounding stone architecture and landscape.

Functional, Beautiful, and Built to Last

This project, located near Charlottesville, Virginia, not only improves day-to-day usability of the property but also adds timeless curb appeal. Stone steps like these offer:

  • Durable, low-maintenance access on sloped terrain

  • Visual texture and natural contrast

  • Increased property value and aesthetics

It’s the kind of upgrade that quietly speaks volumes — elegant, functional, and built to stand the test of time.
